22 Oct autumn light
Everyday, (weather permitting), I am out in the landscape searching for what color the time of day, throughout the day, would form the drawing. As the clouds and light through the clouds hit the hayfield and trees yesterday, everything was in motion all the time. Once I caught that quickly paced rhythm between shadow and light, the drawing formed itself. It was like playing my flute staccato-like, or scat. I kept my eyes ‘out there’ rather than looking at the paper. Only later did I fine-tune areas in the drawing to pull all the parts together into the atmosphere I wanted, (that the day later became).
